Here's what it actually is: a moisturiser with a very short ingredient list. The unscented jar has no fragrance in it at all, so there's very little in
there to react to.

 

If a doctor is treating your skin, talk to them before you change anything. Patch test on your inner wrist first either way. Then judge it for yourself.

I have sensitive/ reactive skin. Is this safe?

Tallow is one of the gentlest, most skin-compatible ingredients available because its fatty acid profile closely matches your skin's natural oils.

 

With only three ingredients (and no synthetic fragrances in the unscented version), there's far less risk of irritation compared to conventional products with 20+ ingredients.

If you're very sensitive, we recommend:

  1. Start with the unscented variant
  2. Do a patch test on your inner wrist first
  3. Start with small amounts and increase gradually

How should I store it?

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat.

 

Tallow is shelf-stable and vitamin E acts as a natural preservative. It won't go rancid like some plant oils can.

 

Note: In very hot weather (25°C+), tallow can soften or even melt slightly. This is totally normal and doesn't affect quality. If it melts, just let it cool and solidify again, it'll be fine.

 

In cold weather, it might firm up more. Just warm it between your fingers as usual.

How long does it last once opened?

12+ months when stored properly (room temperature, lid closed, away from direct sunlight).

Because it's preserved with vitamin E and doesn't contain water (which bacteria love), tallow balm has a long shelf life without synthetic preservatives.
